| On June 24 and 25, 2006, NARSAD, The Mental Health Research Association, hosts its inaugural
“Campaign for the Brain – A Silver Ribbon Weekend” in Los Angeles, California. NARSAD is the
largest non-government, donor supported organization in the world devoted to funding scientific
research on brain and behavior disorders.
Festivities begin Saturday evening, June 24, at Paramount Studios with an elegant dinner and awards ceremony recognizing Hollywood’s contributions to changing the public’s perception of neuropsychiatric brain disorders and breaking down stigma. The event’s honorary co-chair is Mike Wallace, 60 Minutes and CBS News’ legendary veteran correspondent. Honorees include Rosalynn Carter, former First Lady and director of the Rosalynn Carter Institute for Human Development; and Dr. Tom Insel, director of the National Institute for Mental Health. On Sunday morning, June 25, at Royce Hall on the UCLA campus, a scientific symposium will feature renowned researchers providing state-of-the-art presentations on mental health research. Then in a separate afternoon program, guests will enjoy a “Moods and Music” concert performance narrated by New York Times best-selling author Dr. Kay Redfield Jamison. "Campaign for the Brain – A Silver Ribbon Weekend" is dedicated to honoring key persons, programs, and institutions that have moved society forward in the treatment of those suffering from brain disorders. Our goal is to heighten awareness of the need for increased research in order to find the causes of, improved treatments for, and eventual cures for these devastating disorders. Ticket prices start at $350. Tables start at $5,000. For more information, contact dinner coordinator, Natalie Wong, at 323.904.4400.
