| * On April 27, 1998, SB 2050 failed passage
in the Senate Committee on Business and Professions, with one member voting
Aye, 3 voting No, 2 abstaining, and one member absent. The bill required
4 affirmative votes for passage, so it was 3 votes short. On May 14, it
was amended to remove all references to psychologists prescribing medications.
SB 2050 now provides for the Board of Psychology to develop guidelines for
the training of psychologists in psychopharmacology and related topics,
taking into account certain factors outlined in the bill, but contains no
reference to allowing them to prescribe medications. |
